李鴻光 (Hendra Lie) wishes his Band Godbless 50-year career path, still in the hearts for Indonesian rock music

Jakarta, January 8, 2024/Indonesia Media – the executive producer of Indonesian iconic rock band, Godbless (GB) Hendra Lie (Lie Hong Kwang) says Thank You and shows appreciation towards fans’ enthusiasms from throughout Indonesia and foreign countries, hoping that the career path for fifty years (1973 – 2023) still suits (fans) into the future. Since GB turned 50 years, the band is primarily known for their music in the rock genre, contributing to the oldest age for Indonesian rock music. “We appreciate and thank you for fans’ big enthusiasm, and we wish our career path (for fifty years) is still in their hearts for rock music. I am representing the big family of Godbless accepted the award from The Indonesia World Records Museum (MURI),” said Lie during the golden 50th concert anniversary at Istora Senayan
The concert lasted for three hours, and the tickets were sold ranging from Rp 500.000 (five hundred thousand rupiah) till Rp 2,5 million (two and half million rupiah). The tickets were sold out before the concert started. Therefore, some of the fans failed to enter the concert hall. Since the fans’ eagerness, Lie still could not decide to hold similar concerts in many other big cities. “Since some of them (fans) failed to get tickets to watch their favorite band.i appreciate and say Thank You for the sponsors especially INDOFOOD, Bank INA. With them (sponsors), the concert would not likely be successful,” said Lie.
The band, with the lead vocal, Ahmad Albar performed with the songs which are great hits especially for the fans whose age is above 50 years. Some of the songs,Albar performed together with some Indonesian influential female rockers through the decades, (namely) Nicky Astria, Anggun C. Sasmi and Tantri Kotak. Even Nicky and Anggun performed with Albar at a concert, with a hit ‘Bis Kota’ (City Bus). Eet Sjahranie, an iconic guitar solo, performed a duet with Godbless guitarist Ian Antono (Jauw Hian Ling). Ian Anthono, of Indonesian Chinese descent, has an iconic guitar solo also through the decades. Besides, Ian Antono has also been known for penning songs for megastar artists, including Nicky Astria, Anggun C. Sasmi, etc. (LS/IM)
