Los Angeles, Calif.– Year after year, brilliant, hardworking, resilient and innovative members of the Asian Pacific American business community create milestones and reach extraordinary heights in their respective fields, and in so doing, foster hope and inspiration in the hearts of countless others even in the midst of trying economic times. It is for this reason the Asian Enterprise Magazine continues to recognize and celebrate these worthy individuals at the upcoming Asian Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Each year, scores of respected entrepreneurs, community advocates, business owners, public servants and representatives from Fortune 500 companies gather from all over the nation to laud and celebrate the achievements of the most exemplary entrepreneurs and small businesses from the Asian Pacific American (API) business community. This year is definitely no exception; among the honored guests are U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, who will be receiving an award for Public Service Advocate of the Year, and former Clinton Administration’s Commerce Secretary, and former Bush Administration’s Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta, who will be delivering the keynote address.

Now in its 18th year of uniting and publicly honoring the outstanding achievements of the Asian Pacific American business community, the much-awaited event will be held on September 16, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. Even after nearly two decades of existence, the awards banquet is still one of the nation’s most prestigious competition-based awards program that honors and recognizes Asian Pacific American entrepreneurs and small businesses and the Top 20 Companies for Asian Americans.

Among this year’s awardees are the Clinton Global Initiative for Nonprofit Advocate of the Year; event Title Sponsor’s Tim Hanlon of Wells Fargo Foundation as CEO Advocate, with The Coca-Cola Company’s, Muhtar Kent under the same category. Corporate Advocates of the Year are Caesar’s Entertainment and SCE/Edison International. PAN PepsiCo’s Sri Rajagoplan and Kuntesh Chokshi together with IBM’s Michael Robinson who are recipients of the Small Business Advocate Award.

 Among this year’s Fortune 500’s Best Companies for Asian American and Pacific Islanders are Comcast Corporation, Denny’s, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, The Coca-Cola Company, UnitedHealthcare Medicare Solutions, Caesar’s Entertainment, PepsiCo, Xerox and Nordstrom, Inc.
