Growing Need for Business Competition Lawyers amid Improving Relationship Indonesia – China

Jakarta, July 10, 2024/Indonesia Media – Improvements in bilateral economic relationship Indonesia – China, especially the flow of goods and services will lead to dependency on each other, it meant that trade and investment would give impact towards many factors of agreement such business competition and consumer protection. Therefore, any transaction of trade, investment, export – import would give direct impact on business competition and consumer protection. “This is a situation in which supporting resources would be much needed from stakeholders including business lawyers, attorneys, law firms from both local and foreign countries. This is our concern,” bureau head for public relation and cooperation The Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU), Deswin Nur told the editor.
Deswin, accompanied by other staff officers from KPPU discussed many things about the current situation of business competition in Indonesia during the meeting with the delegates from Tiantai Law Firm, Beijing China. The discussion lasted almost two hours in floor two, KPPU secretariat in Ir. H. Juanda street, central Jakarta. Deswin reiterated that issues of business competition and consumer protection had become bigger in Indonesia. Even an association of professionals for business competition issues has just been established in Indonesia. Therefore the visit of Tiantai Law Firm to KPPU was relevant to the current situation. “If Tiantai Law Firm considers to expand the business, by establishing a branch office in Indonesia, the services may cover some aspects of business competition simultaneously with other professional services. That is the main reason of establishing KPPU, in which the field of economy calls for equal opportunity for every citizen to participate in the process of production and marketing of goods and or services, in a fair, effective and efficient business environment, so as to be able to promote the growth of economy and the functioning of a reasonable market economy. “We have received reports from many people and we use our initiative to review and research if there is a business actor existing in an atmosphere of unfair and unhealthy competition. During the period of 2001 – 2023, we have prepared 307 (three hundred and seven) paper on ethical considerations for the process of production in a fair, effective and efficient business environment, so as to be able to promote the growth of economy and the functioning of a reasonable market economy,” said Alia Saputri.
