Bekasi, March 18, 2025/Indonesia Media – With an increase in pilot demand for aviation over the next decade, the CEO (chief executive officer) Aerostar Jet Aviation, exclusive Air Charter Provider, Sigit Samsu has seen an urgency about lecture program, enabling university graduates get two diplomas and two degrees, in which one of them is from pilot school. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) revealed the data that pilot demand per 2025 globally, coming to 35.000 (thirty five thousand) pilots. The International Air Transport Association/IATA also revealed the same data. “The aviation industry, pilot jobs are very prospective. Program Sport Pilot Stream (SPS) is strategic, bringing President University (PU) as the frontline university, in which the graduates will get two diplomas and two degrees, including professional degree from Proflight pilot school,” Sigit Samsu told the editor.

The presentation of SPS in PU Convention Center, Cikarang, West Java, was followed by Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing Tripartite PU – Proflight – PT BWJ (Banten West Java). PU was very proud of presenting the SPS program, as one of the internships for the university students, and was initiated with the collaboration of PU and Proflight, BWJ. The program was intended to provide hands-on experience in sport piloting, and prepare the students with skill and knowledge of aviation. “The industry (of aviation) is badly in need of three hundred and thirty thousand pilots for the period of 2024 – 2032. This is a big opportunity, in which SPS is suitable for backup career plans for the students of PU,” said Sigit Samsu, who is also the executive secretary of PU’s medical faculty (FK)’s board of trustees.

The program of flying airplanes, initially was proposed by the founder of PU, SD Darmono to Sigit Samsu a few years ago. At that time, SD Darmono as both the founder and chairman of Jababeka Group, and his wife, Lucy Darmono were confident enough to fly around in a Cessna 172, owned by Sigit Samsu. The joy flight from Tanjung Lesung (nestled in the West Coast area of Java) Pandeglang regency, to Krakatoa, volcano on Rakata Island in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra. Captain Cindy Mutiara was at the back seat, accompanying Lucy Darmono. At that time, Salakanagara airport in Tanjung Lesung had not been improved with asphalt concrete road construction involving mixing aggregates, gravel. But I and other aviators, both juniors and seniors such as Mr. Nanan Soekarna (former deputy chief of Indonesian national police, March 2011 – August 2013) often fly to Tanjung Lesung during weekend regularly,” said the founder of Pamulang Equestrian Center (PEC) Pamulang, south Tangerang (Tangsel) city.

The aviators practice regularly how to navigate and joy flight from Pondok Cabe, Tangsel city to Tanjung Lesung while taking risks of propeller and the aircraft which are likely to bend, resulting from small stones scattering around the aircraft when taking off at low speed and landing. Therefore, supporting facilities were established for aviators, especially when setting takeoff and landing in Salakanagara airport. Indonesian flying club (IFC) established a hangar 30 x 30 metres on the land-use management with its large up to two thousand meter square from BWJ in the aerocluster zone. A zone, which is planned for the hangar of Aero Villas and also supporting facilities for general aviation and aero sport inTanjung Lesung. “After Mr. Darmono and BoD (board of directors) of Jababeka and BWJ have shared sincere prayer, in August 2023, asphalt concrete construction throughout 600 metres of runway in Salakanagara airport, Tanjung Lesung was accomplished. The idea of Mr. Darmono, that he wishes to own a flying school, God Willing, it comes true through the collaboration and strategic alliance between PU, Proflight, BWJ as both the operator and owner of Tanjung Lesung, in which Salakanagara airport exists,” said the advisor to PU Rector.
