LACASA’s 13th Annual Installation and Community Awards Dinner

Los Angeles, October 8, 2011 / Indonesia Media, Last Saturday members of LACASA, Los Angeles Chinese American Sherriff Advisory Committee, dignitaries, and various government officials gathered together at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel to celebrate the 13th Annual Installation and Community Awards Dinner.

As Outgoing LACASA President Sandy Ho finished her two year term, she accepted numerous awards for community service and charity as LACASA’s President. In her message, Sandy Ho stated that LACASA is an organization intent on “promoting crime prevention” and has “held activities to alert the Chinese American community for critical issues such as gang activities, identity theft, domestic violence,

and youth crime safety education.” During her term, Sandy Ho has also organized events concerning firearms instruction, safety education, and gun safety. LACASA’s new president, Michael Zhang, accepted his position and was awarded for his community service and on his installment as LACASA’s President.

ngress, 32nd District Judy Chu, all of whom have shown much support for LACASA and the Chinese American community. The night’s Keynote Speaker was Judge Lance Ito, notably remembered as the presiding judge of the O.J. Simpson murder trials. Sherrif Leeroy D. Baca also went up to the podium to express his belief that LACASA is the most powerful sheriff advisory committee compared to various other committeesin the community.

As various speakers went up to the podium to congratulate and award both Sandy Ho and Michael Zhang, guests were treated to a full three-course meal and many performances. Performances included Shaolin Kungfu, Drum and Dance performances, and a live band. That night LACASA showed its numerous examples of public service, and will continue to hope for what’s in store for LACASA as Michael Zhang takes the reins as LACASA’s President.
