Jakarta, August 25, 2018/Indonesia Media – For domestic sports industry that is facing flow of products and services from foreign countries, this has become a concern for the government of Indonesia making attempt to drive programs into industrialization and business oriented. The Indonesian government through Ministry of Youth and Sports (Menpora) keeps improving the skill and knowledge for stakeholders in sports industry. “Especially, promotional activities and marketing for sports products and services, we will make big efforts for that,” assistant to the deputy of sports industry, Sandi Suwardi Hasan told IM.

There has been furious debate after Indonesian Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC) hired foreign Event Organizer (EO), spending 100 billion rupiah for the fee. “That is a challenge for me as Indonesian,” he said. Since that Indonesia is a big country with its population of 250 million, professional EO should be created. “Someday, more professionals of EO will compete on a level playing field to handle multi-sport event such as Asian Games, even Olympic Games next,” said Sandi Suwardi.

He reiterated how Indonesian founding father, Soekarno achieved to hold the third Asian Games in 1962. At that time, Soekarno struggled to achieve the goals by organizing Asian Games. The big result, Soekarno created a rich legacy of national development namely Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) main stadium, Jakarta Welcome Statue, etc. “These result from Asian Games 1962,” Sandi said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian young Professionals for EO see good prospects, holding business principle for clients, showing ways to shield their businesses from any upheaval. Their presence, especially in some big cities such a Bandung, Semarang, Jakarta is becoming more massive that multi-sports event. Asian Games 2018 has been the right time for them to show off and prove their ability. The professionals EO are still young, creative holding the business motives namely ‘customer is a king’. Rostina and Decy Nastiti Fecilia are two professionals who keep improving their careers with their business principles. Decy (26), originally from Bandung, west Java improves her portfolio of accomplished events in Jakarta, Semarang, Bandung, etc.

She organized some events starting from music concert, seminar, cultural performance, etc. “I get job order during Asian Games in Jakarta, (namely) athletes Appreciation Night where Ministry of Sports and Youths (Kemenpora) would say ‘Thanks’ to Indonesian athletes for their achievement, especially those who win medals. This is another good chance for me to show that young generation can do what they always wish,” Decy Nastiti Felicia told IM.

Meanwhile, Rostina (36) sees good prospects of taking job of every events from start to finish. She has ever organized a big event in which President Joko Widodo had been present. “I am still new in the business of EO. I do not mind for small profit, but I always need to maintain good relationship with clients. If he or she has small budget, I will accept (the job). I consider the job order not only for business, but for charity. This is a blessing for me,” Rostina told IM.

Rostina who used to work as a hotelier in Makasar so far has ever accepted job orders from Ministry of Sports and Youths, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration. “My team is flexible with the fee. We are not stiff, but assure that we can accomplish the event with deep impression. “If foreign athletes who compete during Asian Games, when they return to the countries, deep impression on Indonesia should be made. This is a challenge for professional EO, and I have ever shown it when organizing previous events,” said Rostina. (SL/IM)
