Buddhist School Suryadharma Development project is initiated

Jakarta, June 3, 2021/Indonesia Media – The foundation of Buddhist school Suryadharma, located in Toapekong street, Kebayoran lama district, south Jakarta has made an attempt on improving the quality by accelerating the work contract which is actually valid for another eight years, 2029. The contract covers the development plan of Suryadharma including teachers recruitment, promotion ideas to get more students, etc. “the contract (of Suryadharma development) was made two years ago, but there has not been any significant result,” said Suryadharma development project initiator for Suryadharma school improvement, Benny Chi Kung
He reiterated that a team of initiators had been invited by the trustees of Foundation, attending an informal meeting a few days ago. Since that was the first meeting, the participants needed to know each other well. They introduced each other. Another initiator, namely Teguh Taslim who is a successful business man, motivator and education consultant had shared his experiences with the trustees of foundation, the headmaster, supervisor. “That’s the way, by knowing each other well, then we can work together to achieve good results,” said Benny Chi Kung.
Next, there will be another meeting to follow up the plan. Initiators and trustees of the foundation, headmaster will evaluate what the most important things to do to execute the plan. Education is one of the pillars, especially during the pandemic of covid, should be prioritized and focused on. “I have so many Buddhist friends who are involved in Buddhist education. I invited one of them, namely Mr. Teguh Taslim who is willing to share his idea, concept to develop Suryadharma. He has been known as an expert of Buddhist education, and has track records of it. Besides, he is a successful businessman, public speaker, and motivator. If (the development plan) can run smoothly, the program is effective, he (Teguh Taslim) will be appointed (by the Foundation) as a consultant,” said Benny Chi Kung.
Meanwhile, Teguh Taslim said that a survey should be made before executing the development plan of Suryadharma. He needs to get information and survey questions he uses play a big role to design the development plan of Suryadharma. The survey questions should be distributed to the parents (of students of Suryadharma), teachers, staff, office boy, headmaster. “The people in the neighborhood in which Suryadharma is located should be listed for survey questions. Then, we can design an action plan, deadline, timeline,” Teguh Taslim said.
He reiterated that he contributed to develop and improve another Buddhist school, namely Buddhi (Boen Tek Bio) in Tangerang, but (the contribution) was not in a commercial sense, commercial purpose. Since the contribution is a part of dedication and a practice which give potential for addressing social problems. “According to me, there should be a good facilitation, curriculum, character building, and environment. Those four aspects are not enough, but we have to know the average income of the parents who send their children to our schools. If their average income is quite high (figure), we can employ foreign teachers, especially either from China or Taiwan to give lessons of mandarin. Not only that, we can design the student exchange, and many other things to achieve our target (of school development),” said Teguh Taslim.(sl/IM)
