Jakarta, December 1, 2018/Indonesia Media – Batang regency, Central Java, Indonesia has vowed to take more measures to promote investments and businesses supported by infrastructure and quality areas based on information and communication technology (ICT). One of the significance is the completion of the trans-Java toll road which will connect Jakarta to Surabaya. “Semarang is at the in-between Jakarta and Surabaya. Batang lies (near Semarang) on which moving traffic pass through the toll road. Local government (of Batang) will build an interchange (station) and a very huge rest area. Drivers and passengers will not only rest, eat or refuel, but do recreational activities,” Batang Regency’s business consultant, Stephen Lo told Indonesia Media.

The trans-Java toll road is nearing completion following the official opening of the Sragen-Ngawi section of the Surakarta-Ngawi toll road in Central Java. The opening, which took place late November, was attended by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, State Secretary Pratikno and State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno. Pemalang-Batang, Batang-Semarang, Salatiga-Surakarta and Wilangan-Kertosono sections are remaining for the completion of toll road connecting those two big cities. The newly-built Electric Steam Power Plant (2 X 1,000 Megawatt) will drive Batang’s tourism economy, preparing for ‘Visit Batang Year 2022, Heaven of Asia.’ Besides, the Power Plant project will boost local industry especially agriculture, plantation and fishery. “We are determined to apply licensing service (for investment) through internet as well as other information and networking systems. Therefore, Batang will be awarded Smart City on 6th December by the central government,” said Stephen Lo.

Batang is on the north coast of Java island connecting Jakarta and Surabaya, which can be reached by land, sea and air within 24 hours. With the provincial capital in Semarang, visitors will have no trouble with transportation. “Recreational and leisure activities (for drivers, passengers) can be accommodated on 100-hectare lot to support interchange (at the toll road). Therefore, we offer prospective investors big advantage,” said Stephen Lo. (sl/IM)Infrastructure, ICT Boost Batang’s Investments, Businesses (sl/IM)
