Bekasi, November 28, 2024/Indonesia Media – The chairman of President University, Jababeka, SD Darmono / 許 龍 川 can see the significance of seniors and persons of greater rank in healthcare, medical science and such research activities for the construction of teaching hospital building. Which is expected to begin in early 2025. They are who senior such as Prof. Satyanegara /黄 金 城 教 授 (expert in neuroscience), Prof. Amin Soebandrio (former head of Eijkman Molecular Biology Institute), Sigit Samsu (founder of Jember University or UNEJ’s medical faculty), and so on. Jababeka industrial estate in Cikarang, Bekasi, west Java itself has established a healthcare ecosystem, such as general hospitals, pharmacy manufacturing companies, medical devices, etc. “Many professionals coming from various countries, such as China, Japan, South Korea, United Kingdom (UK), America, etc, work here in Jababeka industrial estate. Besides that, there are foreign students studying in PU, coming from 27 countries. The ecosystem has existed, therefore we can speed up the construction (of PU’s teaching hospital),” said 許 龍 川

The ecosystem and support group, who are important and prominent with their networking and collaboration in healthcare, would probably put PU at a similar level with others (teaching hospitals) which have already existed in foreign countries. The location of PU’s teaching hospital will be projected in the building of President Executive Club Jababeka, which had been established 20 years ago. At that time, the founders of PU, Prof. Juwono Sudarsono (former minister of defense), Surjanto Sosrodjojo (Sosrodjojo Family in Slawi city, Central Java, who produced brewed tea with the brand of Teh Cap Botol, starting in 1940s), the late Prof. Charles Himawan, the late Drs. Utomo Josodirdjo (accounting legend in Indonesia). “Not all (the founders) can come, attending (the ground breaking ceremony of PU’s teaching hospital). But, the daughter of Mr. Utomo Josodirdjo, namely Mrs. Tiara is here now (attending the ceremony). They, the founders who supported me, made an attempt to establish an international level university innovatively.  That was a big effort, preventing Indonesian students from seeking university education abroad and fleeing to foreign countries. Besides, in a perspective of capital flight, Indonesia loses out as citizens spend billions on healthcare abroad. One of the solutions, that we have to establish health special economic zone (SEZ),” said said 許龍川

The project plan of PU’s teaching hospital will take effect in early 2025, and the foundation still needs to work harder to prepare many things including doctors who have extra expertise, medical specialties and subspecialties. For the first step, the teaching hospital will be built, which will accommodate 400 beds. Since Jababeka industrial estate was established 20 – 30 years ago, there has been a significant improvement of economic growth in west Java province, especially Cikarang, Bekasi local communities. Besides, there has been a collaborative process improving the quality of life of local communities. The local population and number of expatriates from 34 countries is growing. This is another factor in supporting the establishment of teaching hospital, even medical city of health special economic zones. “Simultaneously, the activities in teaching hospital will complement biotechnology research. We manage to start producing raw materials in the pharmaceutical industry as we still depend on imports to a large extent for the raw materials. Senior living apartments in Jababeka, accommodating 40 units, which had been built since 20 years ago, finally was switched over to PU’s medical faculty,” said said 許龍川. (LS/IM)
