Bekasi, July 3, 2025/Indonesia Media – It has to be said, that Windy Hanjaya / Ye Weijun is the man behind the success of large and comprehensive industrial estate and township located in Bekasi regency, the province of West Java, Indonesia, after he contributed significantly to the development since 1989. He started to learn to develop the satellite city, then he continued to develop another project in Morotai Island Regency, North Maluku province. He contributes significantly to the island, but his efforts are not always known. When he started to help the founder of Jababeka, SD Darmono in the 1990s, the condition of Cikarang was very critical. “There is only a little food. The local people eat the rice with salt, the food is a big problem. Even there is no toilet. For so many years, he (Windy) sacrificed himself, struggling to develop Cikarang. He commits to the vision of Jababeka, creating/generating employment. He helps the local government, developing disadvantaged regions, and yet he acts humble in front of everyone,” said SD Darmono, the founder of Jababeka.

At that time, none was interested in developing the region, neither willing to invest. Windy studied civil engineering in Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar), so he has good skill in developing projects. He started to grow trees in Cikarang. At that time, there was only one tree. Then he collected and brought more seeds planted in soil growing into plants. His efforts proved to be fruitful, with many people including business groups coming to Cikarang that turned green.“He helps the local people in Cikarang, and also the community of Sian Djin Ku Poh Chinese temple. Scholarship was provided for the poor but needy, living under the poverty line. At that time former governor of West Java (2003 – 2008), the late Danny Setiawan heard about him after doing good deeds. Therefore the governor came to visit the location where Windy often did good deeds towards local people. To his surprise, he felt miracles really existed on the inside during the visit to Sian Djin Ku Pho (Chinese temple) that is three hundred years old. That is a heritage,” he said

After several years helping develop the industrial estate, Windy was expected to start focusing on the development of another project, resort in Morotai islands, North Maluku. Jababeka management prioritizes tasks in attracting foreign investments for fish processing business.

Morotai island has an area of more than 15,000 hectares and has been determined by the Indonesian government as a tourism Special Economic Zone. The natural beauty that has not been touched by human hands has made Morotai Island very strategic for the development of tourism industries and other supporting industries. The beauty of Morotai beach which has waves that make it possible to surf, plus white sand and the beauty of coral reefs on the seabed for diving and snorkeling by the sea. “That is a new task for Windy. Since he has contributed to the improvement of Cikarang, and we are sure that another improvement for Morotai is entirely in his hands,” he said. (LS/IM)
