Authorities in Bali have urged Hindus to stop spending a large part of their income on ceremonies.

Balinese perform ceremonies many times that a day cost up to as much as a third of their daily income.

The Balinese not only have ceremonies for every stage in their lives but also for their to bless their possessions and show thankfulness.

Although it is difficult to change this long-held habit, the governments message is slowly reaching the faithful.
