
“Since Orcas in their pools die young, they like to say that all Orcas die at 25 or 30 years. And of course that’s false,” the unidentified anti-captivity activist explains. “We knew by 1980, after a half a dozen years of research, that they live equivalent to human lifespans.”
“Blackfish,” a documentary directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, traces the 39-year history of killers whales in captivity in order to investigate why Tilikum, a 12,000 pound Orca living in captivity at SeaWorld, killed a trainer in 2010.
