Miss Asia U.S.A. Sponsored Dinner

A dinner was made to mark the countdown of Miss Asia U.S.A. 2006 Contest for this upcoming April 29, 2006, by sponsors of “G8 Wireless” and “Indonesia Media” at Saladang Dong Restaurant, Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena. The 18th annual Miss Asia USA Celebration will be held at Alex Theater for tickets and info, call 818.891.5556 or 818.830.7691.
The contestants attended the dinner are the following:
Daisi Pollard. Miss Yemen, Mariko Matsuda. Miss Japan, Vanessa Santiago. Miss Sri Lanka, Natasha Amir. Miss Palestine, Christine Sung. Miss Taiwan, Tantri Setiono. Miss Indonesia, Ayushka Singh Gharib. Miss India, Carolyn. (from SF) Miss Indonesia.

It is also highlighted by the present of: Jennifer Chu, Miss Asia USA 2005, Mayor City of Glendale, Dave Weaver, Tramho, Mrs. Asia U.S.A 2006, and Ms Virgilia herself.

G8, an authorized dealer for T-Mobile, welcomed the entire Miss and Mrs. Asia U.S.A., the organizer (Virgilia Production), contestants of Miss Asia U.S.A. 2006, Indonesia Media, and all the participants. During the event, G8 Wireless proudly introduced MDA. MDA is a PDA pocket PC phone for mobile business solutions. G8 is currently releasing the top 5 of the coolest products of phones and PDAs. They also presented their “Glamour Beauty Studio” as the full line of services for hair and skin care. Kosa and Lucas, owners of G8, addressed their support to Miss Asia U.S.A Contest due to their concern in promoting Asian Communities among the U.S. mainstream. "This is one avenue to show our cultures from Asia in the Western Hemisphere,” said Kosa.
Special thanks to: Virgilia Production who initiated and organized to make this event a possibility. Also to Ms. Dessy from Indonesia Media carried out this event dinner up to the last minute. Dessy said showing her enthusiasm,”This kind of extravagant contest fits into our (Indonesia Media) motto, Berdaya lewat lintas Budaya, (Empowering through intercultural)”

Some interesting questions asked for contestants:
Miss Taiwan, Christine Sung, answer the question about the controversial topic Taiwan and Republic People's of China reunification or other option, Taiwan has their independence. Christine who was born in U.S.A. pointed to her boyfriend sitting next to her. She said, “You see, he is from mainland China, in Shan Dong province. We like living in peace.”


Miss Indonesia, Tantri, responded to the so called RUU Anti Pornografi and Pornoaksi (Proposed bill of law that anti pornography) the current controversial back home. She understands in the contest she will be wearing some swim suit; she is not seeing this as some sort of pornography related. However, some of her country fellows might describe it as taboo. She wishes her country fellows can understand and be more educated about the norm ethic. Tantri said,” They should focus more in their moral and fight the wide spread corruption instead.”
