Excitement Mounts for Children’s Champion Gala
Los Angeles, February 17, 2006:
Nearly a thousand guests are expected to attend the first
Children’s Champion Awards Banquet presented by Children’s
Hunger Fund (CHF). The benefit will honor world and business
leaders for their help in serving children in need, at the
Ronald Reagan Presidential Library’s Air Force One Pavilion
in Simi Valley, California on Sunday, March 12, 2006.
2006 Children’s Champion Award Recipients include:
• Her Excellency Mrs. Megawati Sukarnoputri, former President
of the Republic of Indonesia.
• Ty Warner, Creator of the Ty Beanie Baby and Founder of
Ty Inc
• Dr. Myron Wentz, Founder of USANA Health Sciences.
The event, hosted by nationally syndicated radio host, Hugh
Hewitt, will feature a special performance by Grammy-Nominated
singer Jeffrey Osborne.
“It’s easy to support CHF,” said Candace Cameron-Bure, “because
it’s clear that our gift goes to where it’s needed most,
to hungry children.” Val Bure, Candace’s husband and L.A.
Kings’ Right Wing, added, “And these kids aren’t just fed
physically, CHF makes sure they are fed spiritually, giving
them a hope tomorrow.”
The honorary benefit committee includes a host of dignitaries
and celebrities: Former U.S. Attorney General, Ed Meese,
Congressman Elton Gallegly, State Senator Richard Alarcón,
State Assemblywoman Cindy Montañez, State Assemblyman
Dr. Keith Richman, L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yarovslavsky,
Ventura County Supervisor Judy Mikels, L.A. City Councilman
Alex Padilla, Simi Valley Mayor Pro Tem Glen Becerra, and
Santa Clarita City Councilman Cameron Smyth: Kirk Cameron,
Melissa Gilbert, Candace Cameron-Bure, Val Bure, Fred Travelena,
Alfonso Ribeiro, Howard Hewett, and Paul Petersen.
Proceeds will support CHF’s ongoing distributions of food,
toys, medical supplies and other aid to hungry children
around the world.
