Amerindo Presents Education Seminar

American Indonesian United (Amerindo), in cooperation with the San Bernardino Community College District, and co-sponsor by ICAA (Indonesian Chinese American Association) and Indonesian Media, will conduct a free seminar on education and the strategies for career advancement for the benefit of the Indonesian and expatriate citizens living in Southern California, with the title “Educational Opportunities for Minorities” at the Bronco Student Center, Cal Poly Pomona on December 18, 2004, at 1:00–5:00 p.m.

The first ever seminar of its kind to be held for the Indonesians in California, will feature four speakers from leading universities and centers for higher education, namely Alfred R. Herrera, M.A., Center for Community College Partnerships of University of California Los Angeles, Sonia Rodriguez, Senior Administrator from University of Southern California, Tameka Alexander, Admissions and Outreach Counselor of Cal Poly Pomona and Bonavita Quinto-MacCallum, Ph.D., Dean of Student Services, Riverside Community College. The event will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2004, from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Cal Poly University Pomona.

“This free seminar will be very informative and beneficial for students, parents, the community leaders, and those in the workforce contemplating further education to upgrade their skills and quality of life,” according to Amerindo Founder and President, Dr. Robert Kounang. Dr. Kounang, an Indonesian-American doctor in rehabilitative medicine, continues to say, “Educational opportunities are plentiful in USA in various fields and industries that anyone serious about obtaining knowledge and improving their professional skills can easily find a way to do so at the cost he or she can afford.”

The December seminar on education is being by coordinated by Frank Reyes, Assistant to the President of the San Bernardino Community College District. The college district overseas two community colleges in the San Bernardino area, including San Bernardino Community College in San Bernardino and Crafton College in Yucaipa. Mr. Reyes, in recognition for his collaborative efforts in education with the state and federal government, has been instrumental in securing funding for projects benefiting people and the community in the greater San Bernardino area.
